About Rick
The Man Behind the Music
A lifetime of faith, strings, and mountain songs.
His Story
Rooted in the Mountains
Rick May grew up surrounded by the sounds of Appalachian music — the kind that drifts off a front porch on a summer evening and settles somewhere deep in your chest. From an early age, he was drawn to the acoustic guitar, learning traditional bluegrass licks from family members who had been playing those same songs for generations.
As a young man, Rick's faith became the cornerstone of his music. Gospel songs weren't just something he performed — they were something he lived. The hymns he heard in small country churches found their way into his fingers, and before long he was blending the drive of bluegrass with the heart of gospel in a way that felt completely natural.
Over the years, Rick has performed at churches, bluegrass festivals, community events, and private gatherings across the region. Whether he's playing to a crowd of thousands or a small congregation, he brings the same sincerity and warmth to every performance.

Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs
The flatpicking and banjo work of Flatt & Scruggs defined the sound Rick fell in love with as a boy.
The Louvin Brothers
Their close harmonies and deeply personal gospel songs remain a touchstone for Rick's own songwriting.
Live Music
A Life on Stage
Rick has been performing live for over three decades. He's shared stages at regional bluegrass festivals, led worship at churches of all sizes, and brought his music to community events, reunions, and private celebrations.
In addition to his solo performances, Rick has collaborated with local musicians and gospel groups throughout his career. He believes music is meant to be shared — and that the best moments happen when a song connects with someone in the audience who needed to hear it that day.
